BIOGRAPHY OF DEBORAH L. CRAIN
Deborah Crain has been an attorney since 2002. She obtained her B.S. in Marketing in 1999 from the University of New Orleans and her Juris Doctor from the Louisiana State University, Paul M. Hebert School of Law in 2002. Ms. Crain worked in private practice in Louisiana after she attended law school, representing numerous individuals and entities regarding business matters, tax disputes, road defect claims, and insurance defense cases. In 2009, after her father passed away, Ms. Crain and her family moved to Texas where she started her own private practice, the Law Office of Deborah L. Crain, P.C. She believes in the motto I wasn’t born here, but I got here as fast as I could. She and her family love Texas!
In private practice, Ms. Crain focuses on a variety of business-related matters. From setting up new businesses to business litigation, her firm is very passionate about helping business owners. Her belief is that business goals and legal goals should coincide, taking into consideration cost-effective solutions for clients. Ms. Crain’s practice areas also include construction issues, both commercial and residential.
Outside of her law practice, Ms. Crain is passionate about the deaf community. She volunteers weekly at the Triumph Church in Fort Bend County as a sign language interpreter. She also was instrumental in working with the Harris County District Attorney’s office in implementing video remote interpreting so that every Houston police officer has instant access to a sign language interpreter when encountering a deaf person.
Ms. Crain also contributes her time and resources to support the local schools in her community (in Fort Bend County). Whether it being a financial supporter or speaking at a middle school about being an attorney, Ms. Crain believes it is imperative for the children of the next generation to have the resources and information needed to make good choices for their future. Ms. Crain serves as corporate counsel for the Fort Bend ISD Education Foundation, which is an integral community partner in supporting our schools.
Ms. Crain was featured in the State Bar of Texas in 2015 for her work and was awarded by the readers of the Fort Bend Star as “Best Attorney in Fort Bend County” in 2016, 2017 and 2018.
